Boris Johnson has made clear his thoughts on the current racism row which has hit the Royal Family.

This comes after two royals alleged to have made remarks about the skin colour of Prince Archie were named in a Dutch translation of Omid Scobie’s new book, Endgame.

The apparent “translation error” meant the Dutch versions had to be dramatically pulled from shelves and pulped at the last minute.

In response, Buckingham Palace is thought to be consulting senior advisers on the Royal Family’s next step, with “all options”, including legal action, set to be considered.

However, the former prime minister has warned the Royal Family against taking legal action, saying such a move would be a “mistake”.

Writing in the Daily Mail, he said that taking legal action would concede that the allegation, which was speculation about Archie’s skin colour, was “some form of transgression”.

The former PM went on to say that the Palace taking legal action would amount to “yet another surrender to wokery and cancel culture”.

Mr Johnson insisted that “to ask such questions, in anticipation of a happy event, is simple human nature”.

Don’t miss… He added that the claim that such a remark was racist “is total rubbish”.

The former PM wrote: “The world is being whipped into an ecstasy of confected indignation.

“I don’t give a monkey’s who said something about the possible genetic inheritance of the impending arrival of a child standing umpteenth in line to the throne, because I don’t think any such speculation is remotely racist.

“It’s time to stop all this nonsense, and re-draw the distinction between the ugliness of racism and prejudice — against which we have abundant statutes — and ordinary, innocent patterns of human thought and behaviour.”
