Ben Habib sets out Reform UK’s position on Braverman’s sacking

Rishi Sunak’s reshuffle has led to calls for Tory MPs to leave his party and form a new “real Conservative Party” uniting the right of British politics.

Senior Reform UK member Ben Habib, a former Brexit Party and ex-Tory donor has said that Mr Sunak’s reshuffle has left the right of the Conservative Party homeless.

He believes that the party is “no longer conservative” and that those who believe in issues like Brexit, low taxes and patriotism now need to unite.

Mr Habib told Express.co.uk: “The centre right of the Conservative Party is now politically homeless.

“They need to leave the Tories and former a real Conservative Party that can unite the right in British politics.”

His comments come after Suella Braverman was sacked as Home Secretary by Rishi Sunak leaving the right of party without anybody in the Cabinet.

Mr Habib, who was standing in for leader Richard Tice while he is covering for Nigel Farage on GB News, noted that his party had “done more to support Suella [Braverman] than her own party MPs”.

It is understood that unhappiness with the Sunak leadership has led to a number of informal meetings between Reform UK and some senior Tory MPs.

As of yet though “there has been no appetite” to break away from the Conservative Party.

However, one Tory said: “Sunak’s decisions today only make sense if his desire is to destroy the right of the Conservative Party.”
