A woman has been rushed to hospital after being viciously stabbed during a robbery at a Greggs bakery.

The victim was knifed in the leg at the High Street favourite in Droylsden, Manchester, on Thursday.

Detectives swopped on the scene after a suspect stormed the property and attacked just after 5pm.

Greater Manchester Police said the woman was rushed to hospital but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

It has not been confirmed whether she was an employee or a member of the public, The Manchester Evening News reported.

Police were seen scouring the scene soon afterwards for clues as a cordon was erected.

Officers were reportedly guarding the entrance last night.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called at 5pm on Thursday, December 3, 2020 to a report of a robbery at a property on Queens Walk, Droylsden.

"Officers are in attendance and enquiries have established a man entered the property before stabbing a woman in the leg.

"She has since been taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening."

It was not stated if anything was taken in the robbery.
