Woman kidnapped baby to trick boyfriend that her pregnancy was real say cops

Harrowing new details have emerged in the odd case of a failed abduction in California – as cops say the alleged kidnapper stole the kid to trick a man she had been dating that it was their child.

Yesenia Guadalupe Ramirez, 43, reportedly faked a pregnancy before taking the young boy from his home.

She tricked Francisco Marquez into thinking it was his child during earlier trips, where she had three-month-old Brandon Cuellar off his mum Carolina Ayala, supposedly to “buy him gifts”.

Ramirez had befriended Ayala after meeting her at church – but the unsuspecting mum had no idea Ramirez was claiming Brandon was her own child and would allegedly go on to kidnap him.

Marquez saw missing Brandon’s case on the news and told Noticias Univision 14: “I thought he was mine. I was in shock, I can’t believe it… I hugged him, I slept with him, we changed him together.

“I called the police and they told me if I could go. I went, gave my statement and they told me that this child was not mine nor was it hers.”

Marquez admitted he had wanted to build a family with Ramirez – but his vision quickly disappeared when he realised his “son” wasn’t his.

Ramirez has since appeared in court, along with Jose Roman Portillo, 28, who was allegedly involved.

They have both been charged with kidnapping a child under the age of 14 and first-degree burglary.

Both are being held without bail, according to local outlets.

Cops found baby Brandon after they executed a search warrant at Portillo’s home.

He had been taken as his grandmother unloaded groceries, and cops allege Portillo can be seen carrying Brandon out the home on CCTV footage.

“This incident is a parents’ worst nightmare. We are fortunate it resulted in a positive outcome,” San Jose Police Chief Anthony Mata said.
