The incumbent Vice President said when he looked at both party’s coronavirus policies, “it looks a little bit like plagiarism.” Kamala Harris, vying for the VP position after the November election, could not respond but shook her head.
Before that, she had called the Trump administration’s coronavirus handling “the greatest failure of any presidential administration in the history of our country”.
Mr Pence hit back praising Donald Trump’s decision to close the US border with China. He said: “I believe it saved hundreds of thousands of American lives.”
The two candidates soon clashed sharply over the issue of taxes, with Mr Pence interrupting Ms Harris on the issue.
Ms Harris said: “I’m speaking, and let me finish.”
Kamala Harris insisted Joe Biden “will not raise taxes on anyone who makes less than $400,000.”
Mr Pence responded by highlighting Mr Biden’s commitment to repeal Trump’s tax cuts.
He said: “The important issue is the truth!”
