Two people are dead and eight are wounded, left possibly fighting for their lives, after two shooting incidents in Virginia Beach in the US overnight.
Police are currently investigating the events that led to shootings at what appears to be multiple incidents just blocks apart.
The Virginia Beach Police Department are currently at the crime scenes and have advised people to expect the large police presence in the area to continue throughout the night.
Dispatchers said the first call reporting a shooting came in on Friday, (March 26), at around 11.24pm (local time) on the 1900 block of Pacific Avenue.
Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate gave some insight into the dramatic events that have seen large areas of Oceanfront cordoned off.
According to Neudigate, police were dealing with an incident on 20th and Atlantic where eight victims were injured by gunshots.
While working that crime scene they were alerted by shots heard in 20th and Pacific – where an individual there was confronted by a police officer and subsequently shot dead.
Police have also confirmed a second person had died, although, officers are not aware if it is linked to police intervening.
Details surrounding the second death have not yet been confirmed.
A police officer was also injured during the evening after he was hit by a vehicle. The officer was taken to hospital where his condition is believed to be non life-threatening.

The investigation is focused on the oceanfront between 17th and 22nd St and the public are being told to stay away from the area..
Teams from the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are also at the scene of the incident.
Rumours have been circulating that there were three shooters and that there was possibly a gunfight in the area.
Some of those injured by gunshots may have simply been bystanders who were caught up in the melee, it's believed.
It is understood that a number of people have been arrested as a result of this evenings violence, and cops are interviewing several witnesses that may have saw the scenes unfold.
