Russian President Vladimir Putin's biggest crony in the UK has looked to calm fears of nuclear war.
Russia's ambassador to the UK, Andrew Kelin, told the BBC that he does not believe that Putin will use nukes – despite the Russian despot making the opposite claim on numerous occasions since the invasion of Ukraine began.
Kelin has become somewhat of a blind spokesman for Putin, rattling off Kremlin propaganda lines in the UK media on several occasions in a poor attempt at trying to justify the invasion.
But he now appears to be straying from party lines.
Although he admitted that there is protocol for using nukes, he said: “It has nothing to do with the current operation.
“Tactical nuclear weapon in accordance with the Russian military doctrine is not used in conflicts like that at all.
“We have very strict provision on the issue of the use of tactical nuclear weapon, and it is mainly when the existence of the state is endangered.”
Despite the comments from Kelin, just three days ago Putin gave his troops the green light to stage nuclear missile drills as the war-mongering nation continued to flex its military muscles.
New footage showed hypersonic ballistic missile launchers being transported through a forest in the Ivanovo region days, after Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Russia's space agency Roscosmos, claimed the country has 50 new nuclear missiles.
The Yars and Topol M missiles are some of Russia's deadliest weapons, with the thermonuclear Yars missile hitting targets at 15,000mph and carrying six warheads.
Rogozin boastedRussiais set to deploy 50 of its "unstoppable" Satan-2 nukes. Standing at the colossal height of a 14-storey tower block, the 208-ton RS-28 Sarmat missile is capable of striking targets at almost 16,000mph. Carrying 15 warheads, it has the potential to obliterate the UK in a single blast.
Putin has issued various threats against the West most recently last week when he started deploying nuclear missiles towards its border with Finland.
Moscow has made it clear they will suffer the consequences of joining NATO, boasting they could wipe out Finland in "10 seconds".
