State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa has urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to start conscripting women as part of the partial mobilisation of Russians to send to fight in Ukraine. Branding the idea a “just Russia”, Mr Chapa said: “Russia should start conscripting women into the army like they do in Israel.” The request comes amid serious military humiliations for Putin which has seen Ukraine reclaim huge swathes of land in the east. Meanwhile, the battle for Kherson draws near, as Ukrainian troops close in on the Russian-held city. President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of planting mines at a hydroelectric dam in Kherson in a desperate bid to flood the city.
