Speaking on Sky News Australia, host Paul Murray launched a stinging attack on US President Joe Biden for pretending to be a “tough guy” on China. Mr Murray’s brutal takedown comes after President Biden warned China wanted to “own America by 2035” after tensions between Washington and Chinese President Xi Jinping flared in the midst of the COVID-19 origin probe. Mr Murray also accused Mr Biden’s son of having business relationship with China.

Mr Murray said: “Joe Biden has among other things had a bit to say today.

“Suggesting that China wants to own America by 2035.

“Of course this is the bloke who was more than happy for his son to get how many millions of dollars out of relationships with Chinese businesses?”

He added: “He is a bloke who championed them into the World Trade Organisation!”

And the Aussie continued in his brutal takedown of the US President, accusing Mr Biden of “literally clinking glasses with them during state visits”.

Mr Murray said: “Now he wants to pretend to the get tough on China guy!”

Australian senator Matt Canavan, who sat in on the show, hit out at the West’s relationship with China.

China: Xi Jinping ‘is a tough guy’ says expert

The National Party senator said: “Well, I think Joe Biden has said the unsaid thing out loud today!

“I reckon that was probably an accurate description of his conversation with Xi Jinping but what is the conclusion you should make from this?

“The conclusion surely is that we have to radically re-orient our relationship with the Chinese Communist Party.”

He said: “We did tell ourselves a fairytale for some time in the West and I accept that I bought that fairytale for some time.”

He added: “That if we kept trading with China, they would liberalise, they become freer, they would become more like us and join the free world eventually.

“Well that is not happening, clearly not happening and now China is using the commanding heights that they have been able to scale in our economy to threaten, bully other nations including ourselves.”

Mr Canavan concluded that Western nations need to “extract” themselves from the relationships with China and seek new relationships away from the East Asian powerhouse.

In an earlier speech, Mr Biden had said: “I’ve spent more time with President Xi [Jinping] of China than any world leader. For 24 hours of private meetings, with just an interpreter, 17,000 miles traveling in China and here. He firmly believes that China before the year 2035 is going to own America, because autocracies can make quick decisions.”
