‘Peeping Tom’ hiding above women’s changing room crashes through ceiling

A suspected Peeping Tom who fell through the ceiling of the women's changing room in a Virginia gym was cornered by a group of angry women until police arrived to arrest him.

Brian Anthony Joe crashed through the ceiling of the ladies’ locker room at Onelife Fitness in Stafford, Virginia, just after 1:15 p.m on Saturday, January 30.

He fell around 10 feet, but was uninjured because his fall was broken by an unsuspecting woman who was getting changed at the time.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook: "The suspect fell on a woman below."

They added: "The female was checked for injuries by rescue personnel at the scene” but after assessment, it was not thought necessary to take her to hospital for treatment.

After Joe, 41, fell through the ceiling, "he was cornered by patrons at the gym until law enforcement arrived," according to the police report.

Furious locals were quick to comment on the bizarre story after it had been posted to the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

One wrote: "What a Perv! I’m sure this wasn't his first time up in the ceiling.I hope the cops check his phone to see if he recorded or took any pictures of the women…"

Someone else quite reasonably asked: "Aren’t there enough naked ladies on the Internet?"

And a third person, taking a more forgiving tone, added: "Let’s not judge, perhaps he took a wrong left turn, missed an exit and fell through the ceiling of the girls' locker room. It happens."

The incident is reminiscent of a mishap in November when a woman attempting a 'dine and dash' in a posh Canadian restaurant came a cropper after getting trapped in its ventilation system.

Brian Anthony Joe has been charged with burglary, vandalism and three counts of peeping or spying into a building, Stafford County Sheriff’s department said. He is currently being held without bail at the Rappahannock County Jail.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
