Moment man has £32,000 watch taken off wrist by thugs as watching friends flee

Two men are now wanted for robbery after CCTV showed a pair of thugs nicking a £32,000 Cartier timepiece from a man.

The incident happened in the Chelsea neighbourhood in Manhattan, New York City, when the two suspects walked into a group of four people on the ninth avenue.

CCTV at the corner of the street shows the group of four people chatting right in front of a well-lit shop.

Two men – one in a grey hoodie and the other in a white snood – walk past them from both sides before one of them looks at a man's wrist.

"What's up with the watch?" he asks, referring to the man's $35,000 (£32,000) Cartier watch.

The pair have their eyes set on the watch and instantly grab his hand as one of them tries to take it off the man's wrist.

Two women and a man flee the scene immediately and leave the man to fight off the robbers.

He falls to the ground and eventually, the robbers take his watch.

According to New York Police Department, the two suspects fled in a black sedan and were seen travelling southbound on Ninth Avenue.

The 55-year-old victim, who was unharmed in the incident, told the police one of the suspects lifted his shirt and acted as if he had a gun in his waistband.

But it was unclear if the suspect actually had a gun, the police added.

NYPD put out a tweet on Sunday, saying: "Wanted robbery: On August 29, 2022 at 8pm, in front of 235, 9th Avenue.

"The unknown individuals approached the victim simulated a firearm and removed property from the victim.
