Massive Powerball jackpot won by single ticket; Mega Millions up to $970M

Somebody in Maryland may have their life change drastically. A Powerball ticket matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing for the fourth-largest jackpot in the game’s history. The ticket hit on the jackpot was worth an estimated $731.1 million with a $546.8 million cash option, according to a release.

The winning ticket looked like this: 40, 53, 60, 68, 69 and Powerball 22.

The lucky ticket holder will have the choice between an estimated annuity of $731.1 million, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump-sum payment of $546.8 million. Both prize options are before taxes.

The Powerball jackpot resets to $20 million ($15 million cash value) after it took 36 drawings for this past one to hit finally.

The Mega Millions jackpot is still alive with no winners on Tuesday. Friday’s drawing could take home $970 million, the third-largest jackpot in U.S. history.
