Police in Portugal have declared they will be stepping down the search for missing Madeleine McCann
Efforts to search Barragem do Arade reservoir in the country are understood to be halted at 4pm today.
A well-placed police source said: “The GNR has received instructions to stand down at 4pm local time.”
The operation began on Tuesday, May 23.
The GNR is one of two Portuguese police forces working as part of the operation to search the reservoir.
The other, Policia Judiciaria, have not yet released a statement regarding the operation standing down.
