Bill Morgan may well be the luckiest man to have ever lived, with footage recently resurfacing showing his incredible change in fortunes from being in a coma to winning 250,000 Australian Dollars (£135,000) on a scratchcard.
The truck driver, who was 37 at the time, was pronounced clinically dead after suffering a huge heart attack following a car crash back in 1998.
When he was rushed to hospital, he suffered an extreme allergic reaction to a drug which stopped his heart for 14 minutes and he went into a coma.
Doctors considered turning off his life support but, thankfully, he was transferred to another hospital which managed to save him.
After 12 days, he finally emerged from his coma and that’s when his fortunes dramatically changed.
Not only did he marry the girl of his dreams but, the following year won two lotteries.
The incredible moment he discovered he had won big was captured by a local TV station in Melbourne, Australia, and the footage has since resurfaced on Twitter, being seen more than 1.6 million times after it was posted yesterday.
The news channel had asked Bill to re-enact winning the car from the scratching another one.
And, incredibly, he won again. “I’ve just won £250,000, I’m not joking,” he exclaims having scratched his second card.
He puts his hands on his head before letting the emotions run free.
Twitter user @AnalyseLevi re-shared the video on Tuesday, writing: “I'll never forget the Aussie that came out of coma after 12 days to win a car on a scratch card and when he gets asked to re-enact it by a news channel, wins 250 grand.”
One viewer wrote: “What a wonderful story.”
Another couldn’t believe the luck, saying: “Got to be honest, I’m calling bulls*** on that one.”
