Kate Middleton once gifted Harry a grow-your-own-girlfriend kit for Christmas

Kate Middleton is no stranger to savage and quirky Christmas gifts, as the Duchess of Cambridge gifted a 'grow-your-own-girlfriend' kit to Prince Harry.

According to reports, Kate shocked her brother-in-law with the gift after Harry was going through a series of high-profile relationships.

The Duchess and Harry were close even before she was married, and to make matters worse for the Duke of Sussex (and funnier for everyone else), presents are traditionally opened in front of the whole family.

That means The Queen and other royal relatives would have been watching as Harry cracked open his thoughtful gift from Prince William's wife.

The two royals have spent a lot of time together over the years, at both public engagements and privately with Prince William and the Cambridge children, and reportedly, get on very well.

But it's not just Kate who bought a cheeky gift for her royal brother-in-law. Meghan Markle too surprised her brother-in-law Prince William with a funny present.

According to the biography Finding Freedom, Markle nailed his gift – a spoon with the words "Cereal Killer" on it.

The authors wrote: "Meghan's biggest challenge was finding the perfect novelty gifts to amuse her new extended family.

"At least one of her gifts was a huge hit – a spoon for William that had 'cereal killer' embossed on the shallow bowl end of the utensil."

Members of the Royal Family open their presents on Christmas Eve and there is reportedly one rule when it comes to giving gifts – the cheaper and cheekier the better.
