Kate Middleton is a real princess but will never replace Diana, says expert

A royal expert has claimed that Kate Middleton will never replace her deceased mother-in-law Princess Diana in the eyes of American royal fans, although they still adore her.

Ingrid Seward, Editor in Chief, Majesty Magazine spoke to True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat about the wife of Prince William and how royal fans over in the US see her.

In the programme, she claimed that the new Princess of Wales will never replace Princess Diana, who was known under the same title but they believe she is a real princess.

However, Seward added that the same couldn't be said for Meghan Markle – despite her having married Prince Harry.

She said: “The Americans I know all love the Princess of Wales. They adored Diana – no one will replace her.

"But they love the Princess of Wales now, and I think they think she’s absolutely gorgeous. And she’s a princess.

"To them, Meghan isn’t a princess.”

Steward also spoke of how the presence of the royal family, whether physical or not, means a lot to American tourists coming to the UK.

She added: "People, especially visiting from abroad, love the idea that they’re going into a palace or a castle where the Queen or somebody is actually living.

"Although you don’t see them – so that is quite important and there should be a presence there.”

The news comes after Kate Middleton was praised for her “stunning” style after wowing during an appearance at the South African State Banquet earlier this week.

The event was held at Buckingham Palace in honour of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who is currently in the UK.

But rather than world leaders or even UK-based guests taking centre stage, it was Kate who shone.
