Infamous paedos like Gary Glitter ‘offered Covid jab in prison’ as others wait

Infamous sex criminals like notorious pop pervert Gary Glitter are being offered a Covid vaccine in prison while other key workers are forced to wait, it has been reported.

The disgraced glam rocker, 76, falls under the government's "high-risk" category for contracting coronavirus and it is understood such prisoners are being offered the jab at HMP The Verne in Dorset – where he is carrying out his sentence.

Twisted Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, was caged for 16 years in 2015 for sexually abusing three young girls.

A source told the Sun: "You have some prisons where there’s a significant group of elderly sex offenders all in their 70s and 80s.

“Because of their age, they will get the vaccine first.

“But if you’re a prison officer looking after Glitter and you haven’t had the jab, you’re not going to be happy.”

Furious campaigners hit out at the claims too.

David Spencer, Director of the Centre For Crime Prevention, told The Sun: “This decision needs an urgent rethink.”

The vaccine is being rolled out to priority groups first, which includes all those aged 75 and over.

A government spokesman said: “Prisoners are being vaccinated at the same time as the general public and in line with the priority groups set out by the independent Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation.”

Sicko Glitter was once one of the top entertainers in the UK raking in millions of pounds in royalties from his catalogue of hit songs.

He was first convicted for downloading child abuse images in 1999.

Once released he moved to South East Asia and was later jailed in Vietnam for abusing children.

Upon his release he came back to the UK where he faced another trial and was convicted once again.

There was outrage in 2019 when it was revealed one of his songs was used for the Hollywood blockbuster film Joker.

It was later revealed the beast did not receive any royalties from it.
