Sarah Ferguson broke her silence on what she really thought of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In an interview with the Telegraph, the Duchess of York gave her thoughts about a wide range of topics, including Harry and Prince William's rift.
Sarah herself had had an interview with Oprah after her divorce with Prince Andrew in 1996. In this interview she explained that royal life was ‘not a fairy tale’.
When she was asked about how she felt about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's controversial interview with Oprah, she gave a diplomatic answer by saying: "All I want to say on this is that Oprah helped me greatly when I went to the US and was interviewed by her.
"I’m a great supporter of Oprah and everything that she does."
She went on to talk about her difficulty in adjusting to the Buckingham Palace rules, describing an incident where she wanted to open the curtains fully but that was against the rules.
Later in the interview she explained that she didn’t feel right “getting into” the royal rift between Prince Harry and Prince William.
She then said: "However, I think Diana would be so immensely proud of both of her boys, their wives and the families they have created."
Fergie also shared a heartwarming anecdote of her time knowing Princess Diana, recalling them both being very competitive when it came to events relating to their children.

She joked about how Diana was always faster than her and how they were great rivals at playing the three-legged race at the grandchildren’s sports days and tea parties.
When asked about her thoughts on the accusations of racism in the royal family, she deflected by praising Meghan Markle for her publishing debut.
'‘I think it’s wonderful that Meghan has written a children’s book: Having done that myself, I know the effort it takes," says Sarah. "I did have to make my own way in the world when I left the family, and it is not always easy."
Sarah is already a well-established author, having written more than 70 books – including several successful children's stories.
Fergie showed incredible loyalty to Harry and Meghan despite the embarrassing snub she received when she wasn't invited to the evening reception of their wedding in May 2018.
The Duchess of York is gearing up for the release of her first historical novel, Her Heart for a Compass, inspired by the her great-great-aunt, Lady Margaret Montagu Douglas Scott.
