FBI agents has found a document describing a foreign government’s military defenses, including its nuclear capabilities, when officers searched Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate last month.
The foreign country, however, was not named in the report by the Washington Post.
Believed to have been concealing classified documents, the FBI searched Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort last month.
A search warrant for the former US president’s Florida estate was sought after by prosecutors after obtaining evidence that top-secret documents were “likely” still hidden there, according to court filings by the Department of Justice (DoJ) show.
More than 320 classified documents have been recovered from Mar-a-Lago.
Donald Trump's request for a "special master", which would allow him to review documents seized from his Mar-a-Lago resort to determine if some may be protected by executive privilege, was granted on Sunday by a federal judge.
This privilege allows certain White House records to be protected from lawmakers and the courts, in order for presidents to get advice on major decisions.
Trump repeatedly made use of the privilege while he was president as he attempted to block records and testimony from Democrats' congressional investigations.
He did this in the first impeachment inquiry of his presidency.
While Trump was in office, no court ruled on the merits of his executive privilege claims.
Presidents can also waive the privilege, as President Joe Biden did in response to a request for White House records sought by the congressional committee investigating the January 6, 2021, riots at the US Capitol building by Trump supporters.
