Explosion sees ‘serious incident’ declared in Bristol with casualties confirmed

Casualties have been confirmed following a large explosion at a warehouse in Avonmouth, Bristol.

Firefighters from across Bristol are joined by police and ambulance crews in response to the explosion which was called in at 11.22am.

Avon Fire & Rescue Service wrote on Twitter: "We are currently responding to an incident after being called to a large explosion in Avonmouth. Crews from @AFRSAvonmouth @AFRSSouthmead @AFRSYate @AFRSPatchway @AFRSKingswood & @AFRSTemple are in attendance.

"We are joined at the scene by @ASPolice & @swasFT colleagues. The incident is ongoing."

Bristol Live reports police have confirmed casualties at the scene of the explosion.

In a statement, the ambulance service has said: "South Western Ambulance Service is responding to a serious incident at premises on King’s Weston Lane, Avonmouth, Bristol.

"We have attended with multiple resources alongside fire service and police personnel."
