Tech billionaire Elon Musk has been dubbed the “saviour of humanity” by Artificial Intelligence if it was on the verge of extinction.
With two wars underway, and the world teetering on the age of absolute destruction mainly due to the incompetence of world leaders, many are looking for a saviour. So the Daily Star turned to Google's Artificial Intelligence-powered language model software called Bard to find out who could save us.
And there was only one answer . . . Elon Musk.

It told us, when very specifically asked who would save humanity if it was on the verge of extinction: “If humanity was going to be saved from extinction in the next 20 years, I would pick Elon Musk as the person most likely to do it. Musk is a visionary entrepreneur who has a track record of success in developing new technologies and businesses.
“He is also a strong advocate for addressing existential threats to humanity, such as climate change and artificial intelligence.”
The AI explained that there are three reasons why Musk would make a good saviour, based on his comments and behaviour – space exploration, renewable energy and Artificial Intelligence.

The first reason stems from his own company SpaceX which is developing technologies that could make it possible for humans to colonise other planets, giving humanity a “backup plan” in case Earth becomes uninhabitable.
The same can be said for Musk's company Tesla which, AI said, is a “leader in the development and production of electric vehicles and solar panels”.
It went on: “These technologies can help to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and mitigate the effects of climate change. Musk is also a co-founder of OpenAI, a non-profit research laboratory that is working to develop safe and beneficial artificial intelligence. This research is essential to ensuring that AI does not pose an existential threat to humanity.

“In addition to his work on these specific projects, Musk is also a powerful voice for humanity. He has a large following on social media and is known for his outspoken views on important issues. He could use his platform to raise awareness of existential threats and inspire people to take action.”
And finally, Bard picked up one very specific quote that it claims is from Musk's past that conveys his feelings on the future of humanity.
However, when the Daily Star tried to verify the quote, it was unable to do so, so take this with a pinch of salt.

The quote states: “We're at a very critical juncture in the history of humanity. We have the potential to create a wonderful future for ourselves, or we could destroy ourselves. I think it's important to focus on the positive and work to create a better future for everyone.”
But as with everything AI-related, it did caveat all this with a warning that there is “there is no guarantee that Musk will be able to save humanity from extinction”.
The jury is out on whether or not Musk saving us is good or bad.
