The nephew of notorious druglord El Chapo has been filmed peppering a nightclub with bullets – injuring one person.

But frightened police were also filmed letting him go.

Aureliano Guzmán Araujo, known as El Guanito, was captured in CCTV footage at the club in Culiacan City, Mexico, The Sun reports.

He fired at least eight shots before pointing his gun at someone else in the area near to him.

Someone else with him also fired at least twice, while a third man was shown pointing his gun at members of the crowed, too.

One person was injured, with wounds to the leg and face.

Another video shows the three men being questioned by police outside the bar, where one of the group warned the officers to lower their weapons and “stand down”.

Local news has hinted that the gunmen were helped to evade escape by the police, who claimed that it was done so in order to “keep the public safe and keep the peace”.

The group left in five separate cars.

Sinaloa state security leading officer Cristóbal Castañeda confirmed the rumours, stating that his officers were outnumbered, a pursuit was initiated, but no arrests were made.

It wasn't all plain sailing for El Guanito, however, as the US government issued a £4 million reward for anyone with information leading to the capture of the man, and his two brothers, Vice News said.

This is on top of the £12 million reward for information on the whereabouts of El Chapo's brother, Aureliano Guzmán Loera

A U.S. Department of State spokesman said: “All four are high-ranking members of the Sinaloa Cartel and are each subject to a federal indictment for their involvement in the illicit drug trade.”

The trio of sons are often referred to as Narco Juniors, in tribute to their famous cocaine-dealing father.
