Donna Lynne, who served as Colorado lieutenant governor from 2016 to 2019, is the finalist to serve as chief executive officer for Denver Health.
The Denver Health Board of Directors announced Lynne as the finalist on Thursday.
Lynne, a doctor of public health, is currently the senior vice president and chief operating officer at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York.
Lynne served as Colorado’s chief operating officer under Gov. John Hickenlooper, after serving as president of Kaiser Permanente Colorado, executive vice president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc., and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals.
“The Board is confident that Dr. Lynne’s extensive operational and leadership experience, her deep connections to our Colorado communities and her passion for public health make her the right person to lead Denver Health into the future and advance our mission as a leading safety-net hospital and Anchor Institution,” Denver Health said in a news release.
The board is expected to vote to extend an offer to Lynne at its June 23 meeting.
Denver Health CEO Robin Wittenstein is set to retire at the end of August. With operating expenses of about $1 billion a year, Denver Health employs about 7,800 people and provides health care to roughly one in three city residents.
