A Brit musician has been left with an eye-watering medical bill of around £16,000 after breaking his leg during a tour abroad.
Scottish drummer Kieran Angus is a member of the indie rock band Broadsea, and was involved in a moped accident during a trip to Thailand.
The 27-year-old Aberdeen-native had originally thought his travel insurance would cover the costs of the two operations needed before he cold fly home – but he was wrong.

According to reports, the issue centres around the size of the engine on the moped involved.
While he was covered by the insurance to drive a 125cc engine vehcile, his own driving licence was valid for just 50cc engines.
This, his insurance company claimed, invalidated insurance.
And to make it worse, he tested positive for Covid-19 while out in the country.
He has now been left with the huge bill, and friend Nicola Simpson has launched a GoFundMe fundraiser looking to raise around £12,000 of the costs needed.
It has so far raised nearly £10k.
Nicola wrote: “Kieran DID have travel insurance but they aren’t willing to pay out for this due to the kind of moped he was on which is absolutely devastating, we just want him home and he can’t travel until he has had his op.
“He is stuck in a hospital in Thailand at the moment unsure of when or how he will get home and understandably this is taking a toll on his mental health.

“We just want Kieran home so he can recover and be amongst his family and friends, please help us get him home!”
The response so far has “lifted his spirits”, his friend said.
Speaking to The Scotsman, she explained how Kieran was feeling “emotional” and really low.
The name of his insurance company has not been revealed, but the Daily Star has contacted Kieran and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for comment.
Nicola added: “He had plans to stay out there for about six months and this has only been a few weeks into it.
“He’s absolutely gutted and really just quite kind of shaken up.
