Brighton pop-up salon offers Star Trek-inspired hair-dos to the fans

STAR TREK-inspired haircuts are being offered in a pop-up salon that has opened in Brighton.

Fans are invited to a new hair salon in the coastal town – the home of the highest population of Klingon speakers – to get a trim inspired by character favourites.

The shop has been dubbed as Short, Back and Enterprise, and was created to mark Star Trek Day on September 8th. It offers nothing but styles that reminisce the legendary characters including Spock, Christopher Pike, Captain Janeway and Seven of Nine.

It comes after research of 2,069 Star Trek fans commissioned by Paramount+ found half-Vulcan Spock’s famous five-point ‘do’, styled by Vidal Sassoon, was the most iconic hairstyle from the sci-fi franchise, picking up 29% of the vote.

The lovely locks of Captain Janeway came in second with 15%, and Lieutenant Uhura was most popular with one in 10 respondents.

A spokesperson from Paramount+ said: “We wanted to give something back to our fans this Star Trek Day.

“And with a quarter of Star Trek lovers admitting to having their hairstyle influenced by the Next Generation franchise alone, we thought the pop-up hair salon would be perfect.”

On September 8th, 1966, Star Trek debuted for the first time on television with ‘The Man Trap,’ the pilot episode of Star Trek: The Original Series.

On that day, Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry introduced audiences to a world that championed diversity, inclusion, acceptance, and hope.

And 56 years later, Paramount+ honours this important day and the franchise’s enduring legacy with the service’s third annual Star Trek Day celebration, providing fans with a memorable way to enjoy and celebrate all things Trek.

Open to the public on 8th and 9th September from 10am-6pm, trained stylists from Brighton salon Atomik Hair, will be on hand to give locals looks inspired by the likes of JFK McCoy, Janice Read or Spock himself.

Short, Back & Enterprise can be found at the Market Street Store, Market Street, Brighton, BN1 1HH and can sign up for an appointment here.

Paramount+ is now available in the UK.
