GB News presenter Nigel Farage has slammed Insulate Britain protesters. The former Brexit Party leader called for protestors to face “tough penalties” amid claims from the climate change group that 89 of its supporters blockaded a carriageway on the M25 during rush hour on Wednesday morning causing widespread delays and disruption.

Mr Farage told GB News: “People are not just having their personal lives, not just having their social lives severely interrupted unnecessarily.

“A lot of people, self-employed people running businesses this is costing them time and time, of course, is money.

“It is affecting those people too.

“I feel there should be some form of proper deterrent.”

He added: “Whether that is big fines, whether that is considerable amounts of community service I don’t know.

“But there needs to be some form of deterrent.

“I am going to watch really closely.

“Some will say oh Nigel if you make it a really tough penalty for doing this you will encourage people who will want to be martyred.

“Well my experience of these things is very few people actually really want to be martyred.

“Some might be encouraged but the vast majority I suspect would stay at home.

“But something must be done.

“Because otherwise, they could do this to us day after day, after day.”

Proper jobs for hundreds of thousands of people to start the first real step – to insulate all the homes of this country  – which pound for pound gives us the biggest reduction in carbon emissions.

“It is a total no-brainer and yet this Government refuses to get on with the job.

“This is criminal negligence.”
